In the past, this place was called “Khlong Nong Thale”, as the name of the sub-district suggests. However, when a water retention dam was built, the area of ​​the canal above the dam became a large swamp, approximately 1,500 meters long. The area along the dam’s ridge became a popular spot for children in the community to play in the water, sliding down along the dam’s ridge, similar to a water slide.
The origin of the name Khlong Hrud comes from the local language, “Hrud” which means slipping, sliding, which is like playing on a slide in a local way.
The additional name that follows is Khlong Nam Sai because in Krabi province there are many canals named Khlong Nam Sai. Therefore, if it is Khlong Hrud followed by Khlong Nam Sai, then you have come to the right place.
